Life Stays Busy Even After Swim Season Ends

When the swim season ended, I thought my schedule would finally slow down. Without daily practices, meets and travel, it seemed like I would have a lot more free time. That has not been the case.

Instead of spending hours at the pool, I have been buried in assignments and studying for several exams. Papers that once felt weeks away are now due, and multiple tests are scheduled close together. The structure of practice is gone, but the workload has not changed. If anything, it feels more overwhelming because everything is happening at once.

Along with schoolwork, I have been preparing for an event through the Student Planning Committee, where I serve as an event coordinator. On Thursday, we are hosting Quiz Blitz, a Kahoot trivia competition with prizes. The goal is to give students a fun break from classes and a chance to compete with friends.

Planning the event has taken more time than people might expect. There are prizes to organize, questions to prepare and technology to test. While the event is meant to help other students relax, it has added another responsibility to an already packed week. Still, seeing students come together and enjoy themselves makes the work worth it.

This week has felt chaotic. Without swim practice setting a daily routine, my schedule feels less structured. Assignments, exams and event planning have all piled up at once. It has been a reminder that being busy does not end when a season does — it just looks different.

There is something to look forward to, though. After my 12 p.m. class on Friday, I will head home to start spring break. The timing could not be better.

I am looking forward to spending time with friends and family and seeing my dog. Being home will offer a chance to relax and reset before the final stretch of the semester.

Swim season may be over, but the semester is still moving fast. For now, the focus is on getting through exams, hosting a successful Quiz Blitz on Thursday and making it to Friday at noon. Then, spring break begins.
