Balancing the Week: Lessons, Honors and a Launch Ahead
This week brought a mix of routine, recognition and progress, showing how quickly different parts of the semester can come together.
Sunday started on the pool deck with swim lessons, something that has become a steady part of my schedule. Our team has continued rebuilding the program, and each week feels more organized. Working with swimmers at different skill levels keeps things interesting because every lesson requires a different approach. Some swimmers are still learning the basics, while others are refining technique. Seeing improvement, even in a short session, makes the experience worthwhile. It is also a reminder of why I enjoy aquatics and why I want to pursue a career in that environment.
Tuesday shifted the focus to academics and involvement with Honors Day. It was a chance to step back and recognize the work that goes into balancing school, athletics and extracurriculars. I was honored to receive the Helen A. Ludwig Scholarship, which reflects both academic effort and campus involvement. I was also inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, an honor society for student-athletes who succeed in the classroom and in their sport. That recognition stood out because it represents the balance that student-athletes work toward every day, even when schedules are busy.
By Wednesday, the pace picked up again. I worked a Student Planning Committee event, which added another layer to the week. Being part of these events provides a behind-the-scenes look at the planning and coordination required to create campus programming. From organizing details to helping execute the event, it highlights how much effort goes into making sure everything runs smoothly.
At the same time, I continued making progress in my internship with the U.S. Professional Diving Coaches Association. After several weeks of planning and communication, the mentorship program is set to officially begin May 1. Reaching this point feels significant because it marks the transition from preparation to execution. Building the structure, organizing participants and finalizing details has taken time, but it is rewarding to see it all come together.
Looking back, this week combined consistency with meaningful milestones. From teaching swim lessons to being recognized at Honors Day and continuing work through SPC and my internship, it showed how different experiences can connect and build toward long-term goals.

Hello Nathan! I think it's so cool that you guys do swim lessons for kids. Congrats on receiving your scholarship! That's so exciting and a great achievement! Your internship seems super cool, especially as it's with an association that encompasses the sport you compete in. Good luck with the rest of the internship and semester.
