Getting Ready for “Tag, You’re Glowing”
This Thursday is one of the biggest events I have been working on all semester, and it is finally almost here. “Tag, You’re Glowing” is an SPC event where we are bringing free laser tag to the King Horn Field House, and it has been really cool to see everything start to come together.
A lot of my time lately has been spent going back and forth
with our vendor, SuperGames. I have been finalizing details with them like
setup, timing and making sure we have everything we need for the event to run
smoothly. It might not sound that exciting, but it is a huge part of making
sure the night actually goes the way it is supposed to.
On the more fun side, I have been working on promotion too.
I got some promo pictures together for the event, which always makes it feel
more real. I have also been sending out emails to our SPC event list to help
spread the word and get more people interested. Once you start seeing posts and
emails out there, it kind of hits that people are actually going to show up.
Since it is a free event, the goal is just to get as many people there as
possible and create a fun environment.
I have also been getting volunteers signed up to help run
everything, including a couple people specifically to make sure everyone is
signed in and has completed their waiver. Events like this take a lot of people
behind the scenes, whether it is checking people in or just helping keep things
organized. It has been nice seeing people willing to help out and be a part of
it.
It is kind of crazy to think that after this event, I only
have one more to host in May: Shake the Stress Away, featuring free milkshakes
on the Tundra.
Overall, this whole process has been a lot, but in a good way. There are so many little details that go into one event, and you do not really realize it until you are the one planning it. Now I am just excited to see everything come together on Thursday and hopefully have a really fun night.

Hello Nathan! What a cool idea for an SPC event! I had saw the poster, displaying the event but wasn't able to attend due to other commitments. I know it would've been fun! I enjoyed hearing about the effort it took to plan the event and your dedication to it. Hopefully it went smoothly!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a really fun event! We were able to sort of see the beginning process of everything getting set up in King Horn at the end of my softball practices. It looked like there was definitely a lot that went into it. I hope everything went well with the whole setup and the event!
